Role Summary

We are looking for a Buyer and Procurement Officer with hands-on experience in international purchasing and vendor coordination—particularly with suppliers in China. The role focuses on identifying reliable vendors, managing procurement operations, and supporting product movement from China to the UK. The ideal candidate will be fluent in both Mandarin and English, understand the commercial culture in China, and be confident communicating with cross-border suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing activities for goods imported from China, ensuring quality, cost-efficiency, and timeliness.

• Identify and evaluate suitable vendors; build and maintain long-term supplier relationships.

• Coordinate product orders and deliveries with Chinese suppliers, logistics partners, and UK operations team.

• Monitor quotations, shipping timelines, and pricing updates; ensure accurate documentation and records.

• Communicate effectively with Chinese-speaking suppliers to resolve order issues, negotiate terms, and align on delivery plans.

• Work closely with internal teams to meet procurement targets and assist in tracking cost performance.

• Provide regular updates on supplier performance, pricing trends, and shipment status.

• Support ad-hoc tasks such as translation, supplier verification, and purchasing reports when needed.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in international procurement, vendor communication, or product delivery coordination.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both Mandarin Chinese and English (verbal and written).

• Familiarity with Chinese business culture, negotiation style, and communication protocols.

• Comfortable handling quotations, purchase orders, and basic import/export coordination.

• Detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple supplier accounts.

• Proficient in MS Excel or equivalent tools for tracking and reporting procurement data.

• A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a team-oriented approach.

Preferred:

• Experience working with Chinese logistics companies, suppliers, or manufacturers.

• Background in a bilingual or cross-border commercial setting.

• Familiarity with basic warehouses or shipping operations is a plus.

• Candidates with overseas study experience are preferred.
